Google is in talks with LG about the possible production of a new Nexus smartphone, the South Korean website eToday claims. The most recent Nexus phone, the Nexus 6, came from Motorola.

According to eToday, Google employees recently held talks with LG in South Korea. They are said to have talked about a Nexus smartphone codenamed ‘N000’. The website does not give any further details, but it does speculate that the device might be called ‘Nexus 7’. That would be striking, because Google has already released two tablets under that name together with Asus.

Google has previously partnered with the South Korean electronics manufacturer. For example, the two companies have launched the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5. Traditionally, Google is always looking for a new hardware partner for the next Nexus phone.
