LG has shown a transparent 18-inch OLED screen. The company also comes with another 18-inch screen that can be rolled up. The manufacturer expects that the technology for bendable OLED panels can lead to rollable UHDTVs with a diagonal of 60 inches as early as 2017.

The manufacturer will probably not use the 18-inch screens for commercial products, but LG wants to use the technology behind the screens in, among other things, future TV models. The transparent screen is made of what LG calls ‘transparent pixels’. transmit light than previous transparent screens.

The manufacturer has made the bendable screen with a substrate of a different type of plastic, which should make it easier to roll up. The screen has a resolution of 1200×810 pixels, almost as high as the curved amoled screen of the LG G Flex smartphone.

LG is confident that it will be able to release rollable TV screens with UHD resolution and a diagonal of at least 60″ in 2017.
