LG shows new version of SuitBot exoskeleton
LG will show a new version of its CLOi SuitBot at CES in January. This is an exoskeleton for humans that helps carriers lift and provides support when bending over. LG will also show autonomous ‘service robots’ during the electronics fair.
LG’s CLOi SuitBot is intended to assist people in moving heavy objects. The exoskeleton supports the wearer in this and should reduce the risk of injuries and fatigue. The robotic suit activates when the wearer bends at a 65-degree angle and turns off again when the wearer is upright. According to LG, the battery lasts four hours and can be charged in one hour.
LG will also be showcasing new versions of its PorterBot, ServeBot and CartBot at the CES electronics show, which kicks off January 8 in Las Vegas. These are autonomous service robots that work with artificial intelligence. The robots are designed to help customers at airports, hotels and supermarkets, for example. LG already showed such robots at CES last year, but says they are now almost ready to be launched on the market.
