LG shows DukeBox audio system with tube amplifier and transparent OLED screen
LG will be showing its DukeBox during the CES fair. This audio system is being developed by LG Labs, the experimental branch of LG, and has a tube amplifier behind a transparent OLED panel. It is not known if and when the DukeBox will be released and what it will cost.
LG confirms that its Labs division’s DukeBox will be shown next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to LG, the system has a tube amplifier, although the South Korean manufacturer shares few concrete details about this. The DukeBox, which is inspired by traditional jukeboxes, will also have a forward-oriented speaker on the bottom and ‘two 360-degree speakers’ on the top.
The system is surrounded by a glass housing, with a transparent OLED panel on the front. For example, this can show information about the music being played, but according to LG it is also suitable for films and video images. Because the screen is transparent, the vacuum tubes of the integrated amplifier can also be seen.
LG also says that in addition to the DukeBox, it will also show a CineBeam Qube 4k laser projector, along with a smart home robot, a new laptop, and more. LG does not say if and when the DukeBox will become available and does not mention a price.
