LG showed the UltraGear 48GQ900 during an event in Germany. This is a monitor based on an OLED panel from LG Display. What is striking, among other things, is that the product not only supports HDMI 2.1, but also has a DisplayPort connection.

According to the German department of LG, the LG UltraGear 48GQ900 will have a panel based on white OLEDs, as is also the case with OLED televisions; they all have such panels from LG Display. The FlatpanelsHD website reports that the screen will also support DisplayPort in addition to HDMI 2.1 support. This is not uncommon on a monitor, but televisions based on these OLED panels have so far only had HDMI connections.

The monitor will support a 4k resolution along with refresh rates up to 120Hz. FlatpanelsHD speculates that it could go up to 138Hz, but that has not yet been confirmed. Furthermore, variable refresh rate is supported and can display up to 98.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Anti-glare low reflection is also supported, which is never the case with OLED televisions.

The UltraGear 48GQ900 has purple LED lighting on the back and built-in speakers. LG has not yet announced a price or exact release date for the UltraGear 48GQ900. The monitor will be released sometime in the second half of this year.
