LG puts online which phones get which Android upgrades
LG has put information online about which phones will receive which OS upgrades. The Velvet and the Wing are the only two phones that will get an upgrade to Android 13. That operating system would not be released until 2022.
The site is about the South Korean models, but it is obvious that Android versions that come out for phones in the home country will also be on models for Europe. The V40 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ will not be upgraded to Android 11, according to the information. The G8 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ get Android 11 and Android 12. The G8X is missing from the list, but it is called V50s ThinQ in South Korea.
Android 11 came out last year, Android 12 is slated for release from Google at the end of the summer. Google has not yet announced Android 13, but that would probably happen next year. It is not known when the upgrades for the LG smartphones will come.
LG said last week that recent high-end models would receive three years’ worth of OS upgrades. The promise is probably an attempt to persuade interested parties to still buy an LG phone. LG announced Monday that it will stop making phones. The mobile branch has produced telephones for almost twenty years.
