LG presents three IPS monitors with HDR and 160Hz refresh rate

LG will present monitors for next year, which will at least partly be on display at the upcoming CES fair. Among them are three UltraGear gaming monitors with DisplayHDR certification and a refresh rate of 160Hz.

LG unveils in the UltraGear series of game monitors first of all the 27GN950, a 27 “ips monitor with a 4k resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which can be overclocked to 160Hz. According to the manufacturer, this screen offers hardware calibration. The screen also supports Adaptive Sync and the monitor will receive the G-Sync Compatible certificate. This probably also applies to the 34GN850 and 38GN950. These are larger IPS screens with a 160Hz refresh rate. The 27GN950 and 38GN950 have certification for DisplayHDR 600, where the 34GN850 bears the DisplayHDR 400 label, according to LG, the three monitors all have a 1ms response time.

The manufacturer also comes with the 38″ 38WN95C, a curved monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 1600 pixels, a response time of 1ms and a 144Hz refresh rate. According to LG, this screen is validated as Nvidia G-Sync Compatible, supports Adaptive-Sync and has a Thunderbolt 3 connection. The monitor is capable of displaying 98 percent of the dci-p3 color space. This unit also supports an HDR display and has received a DisplayHDR 600 certification, which means that the screen has a peak brightness of 600cd/m².

LG also presents the UltraFine Ergo screen, a 32″ 4k monitor with model name 32UN880. This screen is mounted via an adjustable arm to a leg that can be clamped to the desk. This makes it possible to tilt the monitor horizontally 280 degrees. rotate or tilt 25 degrees vertically. This 4K monitor has a diagonal of 31.5″, a USB-C connection, a response time of 5ms, a refresh rate of 60Hz and can display 95 percent of the dci-p3 color space. Only AMD’s FreeSync is supported and the manufacturer reports HDR10 support, although the screen achieves a brightness of about 350 cd/m², which is too low for a DisplayHDR certification from VESA.
