LG presents four budget smartphones in K series and Stylus 3
LG has announced five smartphones that it plans to bring to the market in the coming year. It concerns four budget models in the K series and the Stylus 3 with pin. LG has not yet announced prices, but the current K models cost 100 to 150 euros.
LG provides the Stylus 3 with software such as Screen-off Memo, which allows users to take notes even when the screen is off. The device has a 5.7″ screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The smartphone runs on an MT6750-soc from MediaTek, a quad-core that does its job at 1.5GHz. The chip is combined with 3GB lpddr3 memory and 16GB emmc flash memory. The storage space can be expanded with a micro-SD memory card. On the back is a thirteen-megapixel camera, the front camera shoots in eight-megapixel format. The battery has a capacity of 3200 mAh and can be replaced. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, has a fingerprint scanner and FM radio.
The budget models are new versions of the already existing K3, K4, K8 and K10. The latter two run on Android 7.0, while the K3 and K4 will be released with Android 6.0.
The most expensive version, the LG K10, has a fingerprint scanner and a selfie camera with a wide-angle lens that has an angle of view of 120 degrees. The battery has a capacity of 2800mAh and is removable. The smartphone runs on an MT6750-soc from MediaTek with four cores at 1.5GHz, and has 2GB of ram on board. There will be versions with 16GB and 32GB emmc storage space, but there is also room for a micro-SD memory card. The 5.3″ screen has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
LG provides the K8 with a Snapdragon 425-soc, 1.5GB lpddr3 memory and 16GB emmc flash memory. The front camera has a five-megapixel resolution and the rear camera shoots pictures in thirteen-megapixel format. The removable battery has a capacity of 2500mAh and the 5″ screen has 1280×720 pixels.
In the two cheapest models, the K3 and K4, is a Snapdragon 210-soc and 1GB ram. These devices have a screen resolution of 854×480 pixels. The K4 is a 5″ model with five megapixel cameras on the front and back and a 2500mAh battery. The K3 has a smaller 4.5″ screen and a front camera with 2MP resolution. The battery is also smaller with a capacity of 2100mAh battery.
All models in the K-series can be equipped with a micro-SD memory card, have a removable battery and support 4G networks. LG does note that the specifications may differ per market. LG has not yet announced what the devices will cost and when they will appear on the market. The current models in the K-series cost about 100 to 150 euros and LG reports in its announcements that the devices are intended for the masses. At the CES at the beginning of January, the manufacturer will present the new devices in more detail.
Last week, the arrival of the new devices was already leaked through telecom insider Evan Blass. That information now appears to be correct. In his post on VentureBeat, he also talked about the arrival of two new models in the X-series, but they will be announced later.
