LG OLED production shut down after nitrogen leak accident
The South Korean Ministry of Labor has stopped work at the OLED branch of LG Display. The production stop of panels follows an accident on Monday, in which two employees of the group died.
On Monday, a nitrogen leak started at an LG OLED panel facility north of Seoul. The accident killed two and injured four, the Korea Herald reported. The South Korean Ministry of Labor has subsequently decided to stop production at the factory, according to Reuters.
The ministry will investigate the accident, but it is unclear how long that will take and how long the production stop will remain in effect. LG has confirmed the shutdown, but cannot say what the consequences will be for, for example, TV deliveries. The company indicated that it would like to resume production as soon as possible. It is unclear which part of the production of OLED panels is involved.
