LG may appear in court in US over Nexus 5X, G5 and G4 bootloops
LG must respond to a customer complaint in the United States in court. They claim that the manufacturer has made mistakes in the production of smartphones and the provision of warranty, which has caused users to suffer from hardware problems of recent smartphones.
The case was initially only about the G4 and V10, but now the indictment also mentions the V20, G5 and Nexus 5X. The complainants claim that LG did not solder the processor to the PCB well enough, so that it slowly came off due to heat development. According to the complainants, this has resulted in bootloops for many people, the effect that a phone restarts itself every time. As a result, they lost data because the problems suddenly started to arise.
In addition, LG has not replaced or replaced defective devices with copies with exactly the same problem. It is a so-called class action lawsuit, which any American who considers himself duped can join. The plaintiffs are asking a California court for a jury trial. They demand repair of the devices and compensation.
The South Korean manufacturer has the first opportunity to respond to the charges. The judge has given LG until May 8 to do so.
