LG launches 450 lumen portable projector – update
LG comes with an ultra short-throw beamer with which it bets high on compactness. The LG PH450U projects an 80″ image with a 720p resolution and 450 lumens from 33cm away. The projector also works on a battery and can be oriented so that it shines on a table from above.
LG will present the PH450U for the western market on Thursday, but judging by the age of a South Korean promotional video and some eBay ads, the projector has been available from Asia for just over a month. According to the manufacturer, the projector has a battery life of 2.5 hours and receives its signal from HDMI, MHL or a USB drive. There is also a digital TV tuner on board. Furthermore, the device supports bluetooth and WiDi Screen Share. The image would have a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and the lamp should last for 30,000 hours. The format is 135 by 200 by 80.5 mm and the weight is 1.1 kilos. By moving the projector closer to the screen, the image can be reduced to 40″.
At the same time, LG unveils another projector with which the South Korean company focuses even more on portability, but does not sacrifice brightness. The PH150G, on the right, is 115 by 115 by 44.5 mm in size and weighs 450 grams. The PH150G offers an image with a light value of 130 lumens, but this projector can project a 720p image with a diameter of 100 “. It is not entirely clear at what distance this example does that.
LG’s PH450U should be available in European stores in September. The PH150G will follow in October. LG will not disclose prices for Europe, but in the US the PH450U should cost $649.99 and the PH150G $349.99.
Update August 22: LG announces that the PH150G and PH450U will be sold in Europe from September for 349.99 and 649.99 euros respectively.
