LG has introduced the second generation of the CineBeam Laser 4K projector. The HU85L is a UHD laser projector that features a technology that LG refers to as ‘ultra short throw’. This means that the beamer can project an image of 120 “at 18 cm from the wall.

LG reports that it is also possible to place the projector even closer to the wall; if the HU85L is placed 5 centimeters from the wall, the device can still project an image with a diagonal of 90 “on the wall. According to LG, this capacity facilitates the placement of the projector in, for example, a living room. The predecessor, the HU80K, was LG’s first 4k projector.

The South Korean company will announce more about the projector during the upcoming CES fair in January. The company has already announced that the maximum brightness of the HU85L is 2500 ansi-lumen. Furthermore, the beamer has 12-point keystone support, which, according to LG, prevents image distortion. The ability to stream YouTube videos is built-in and there are USB, Ethernet and HDMI connections.

LG has not yet disclosed other information such as the price and the contrast ratio. It is already clear that the device supports LG’s AI implementation ThinQ, which allows users to turn off the projector with voice commands or instruct them to play certain videos.
