LG integrates Google’s Play Movies & TV into its webOS platform for smart TVs. The manufacturer has concluded an agreement with Google for this. After Android TV, webOS is the second TV platform to unlock the service.

This month, the Play Movies & TV service will only be available to LG TV owners in the US, UK, Australia and Canada, but eventually users in more than 100 countries will need the video service. The service does not only come to webOS, the previous NetCast 4.0 and 4.5 platforms are also provided by LG with Play access.

Play Movies & TV offers users the option to watch streams of films and series for a fee. Users can continue watching on their mobile device if they have not finished watching the video on TV. The service is standard part of Google’s own Android TV, which is used in TP Visions Philips TVs and by Sony, among others. LG is the first manufacturer to integrate it into its own TV platform.
