LG Electronics gets a new director. Current CEO Jo Seong-jin is leaving and Brian Kwon is succeeding him. Kwon is currently the chief executive of the South Korean company’s Home Entertainment and Mobile divisions.

Kwon will start on January 1, LG writes. He has been with the group since 1987 and is known, among other things, as head of the division that released OLED TVs in recent years. He is also currently head of the mobile division of LG Electronics. Kwon will become CEO of the Electronics company, but not its parent company LG.

Kwon and other new executives at the electronics company are targeting a “data-centric” strategy for the coming years. What that will mean in practice is still unknown. LG’s TV division has been performing well for years, but the mobile branch has been making losses for years. LG also presented its new interface UX 9.0 on Thursday, which includes a dark mode, other icons and changed elements in the interface.
