LG has contradicted various rumors about a possible postponement of its next high-end smartphone. According to the manufacturer, the development of the successor to the G6 is on schedule. Despite this, the manufacturer does not say when the phone will be released.

LG reports in a statement to Engadget that it will announce more details later. “There have been reports that LG’s mobile division is delaying the release of the G7 to reassess performance and design. This is not correct. Preparations for the release of the successor to the G6 are on track.”

With this, LG denies a claim by the South Korean newspaper Korea Herald, which said that the manufacturer postponed the smartphone because the top of the company wanted engineers to make a new design.

In addition, LG mentions the G7 by name for the first time in the statement. An earlier rumor indicated that the manufacturer would like to get rid of that naming, but it seems that the South Korean electronics maker will continue with the current naming.

A CEO of LG said a few weeks ago that it wanted to make more variants of G and V smartphones, in order to keep the models on the market longer. It is still unknown when LG wants to present its next smartphone.
