LG has delivered considerably more smartphones in recent months than in the same period last year. According to the manufacturer, this is due to the worldwide release of its most important device, the G3. The South Korean manufacturer delivered 16.8 million smartphones in three months.

In addition to the G3, the cheaper L III series has contributed to the higher deliveries in recent months, LG claims in its presentation of the quarterly figures. The L-series, with devices such as the L90 and L70, are cheaper telephones with mostly relatively large screens and batteries.

With the number of 16.8 million units delivered, LG is still far behind its major competitor Samsung, which is estimated to sell around 80 million smartphones every three months. Apple also supplies many more smartphones than LG. Huawei, like LG, is around 16.8 million, while Xiaomi comes out higher according to recent estimates; Xiaomi itself has not yet mentioned any figures.

LG has been doing well in recent months: the profit doubled to the converted 345 million euros, while the turnover increased slightly to 11.1 billion euros. LG’s largest branch is Home Entertainment; sales of LG’s LCD TVs soared.
