LG announces 40″ curved monitor with 5120×2160 resolution
LG presents a curved 40″ monitor with a 21:9 ratio and a resolution of 5120×2160 pixels. The manufacturer also introduces three new UltraGear gaming monitors with high refresh rates and relatively good HDR capacities.
The LG UltraWide Monitor 40WP95C has a curved IPS panel with a diagonal of 40″. The curvature has not been disclosed by LG, but according to TFT Central it is the same panel as the recently introduced UltraSharp U4021QW. The Dell screen has a curvature of 2500R, which is equal to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 2.5 meters.
LG reports that its 40″ monitor has a 72Hz refresh rate, can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, and has support for FreeSync. There is also said to be support for HDR10, but further details are lacking. gray response time is 5ms.
The LG monitor can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and 135 of the sRGB color space. There is also support for HDR10, but for now there are no details about how well the screen is able to display high dynamic range and what the peak brightness is. Thunderbolt 4 support is included, allowing data transfer and power to be bundled in a single cable. The monitor can be fully tilted, adjusted in height and swiveled.
New Gaming Monitors
In addition, LG comes with several new monitors aimed at gamers, with much higher refresh rates. It is the very first UltraGear 27GP950, a 27″ monitor with 4k resolution in combination with 144Hz. Furthermore, HDMI 2.1 is supported, so that this screen is also specifically suitable for next-gen consoles. The display of 4k images at 120Hz is possible via this HDMI connection and VRR is also supported Nvidia G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro are also provided.
LG also introduces the 32GP850, a 31.5″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 165Hz, which can be increased to 180Hz. Nvidia G-Sync is supported. According to LG, this monitor should be seen as the successor. of the UltraGear 27GL850 announced in mid-2019; this screen has, among other things, a slightly lower refresh rate of 144Hz.
Finally, LG comes with the 34GP950G, a 34″ screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels. The refresh rate of this monitor is 144Hz, but that can be overclocked to 180Hz. There is support for Nvidia G -Sync Ultimate.
All of these new gaming monitors have a specified gray-to-gray response time of 1ms, and all but the 32GP850 bear the VESA DisplayHDR 600 label. This means that the peak brightness reaches a minimum of 600cd/m² and that these screens will perform reasonably well in terms of HDR displays. For the 32GP850, only HDR10 support is mentioned.
