Let’s Encrypt has problems with issuing and renewing certificates
Let’s Encrypt is experiencing outage on Friday. The service has traced the issues to responders for the Online Certificate Status Protocol. Let’s Encrypt is unable to renew certificates or issue new certificates due to the issues.
Users complained on the service’s community page on Friday about not being able to renew certificates. The certificate authority administrators indicate on the status page that they are aware of the problems and are working on a solution.
The problem is said to be related to ocsp responders, leading to several certificate issuance issues. Let’s Encrypt provides free X.509 certificates for tls encryption of connections. In the past week, the service know issued 40 million certificates for sites. In March 2016, three months after the start, there were one million.
