Lenovo will release Legion Phone Duel 2 with two fans in May for 799 euros
Lenovo has unveiled the Legion Phone Duel 2, a gaming phone with two fans and two batteries with a total capacity of 5500mAh. The two fans sit in the middle of the back between the batteries and cool the Snapdragon 888-soc.
In addition to the Snapdragon 888 with 5G support, the gaming smartphone will receive 12GB to 18GB memory and 256GB to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The display is a 6.92″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2460×1080 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. The 8bit display supports HDR10+, can display 111.1 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and has a peak brightness of 1300cd/ m².
The Legion Phone Duel 2 has a pop-up selfie camera that pops out from the center of the right side. This camera uses a Samsung GH1+ sensor with 44 megapixel resolution and can record videos in 4k at 60fps. The pop-up camera can also film at 240fps in 720p resolution. Lenovo says it deliberately placed this camera in the middle of the right side, because this would be a good place for streamers. The smartphone gets software to blur backgrounds of the selfiecam.
On the back are two cameras, a 64-megapixel camera with OmniVision OV64A sensor and a second 16-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle lens. The rear cameras allow the phone to record HDR10+ videos at 4k and 30fps, or regular videos at 8k and 24fps. Slow motion is also possible with a maximum of 720p and 240fps.
Those two rear cameras are also in the middle of the phone, on the cooling block. This block has two fans with 29 blades. The intake fan spins at a maximum of 12,500rpm, the outtake fan spins at a maximum of 15,000rpm. According to Lenovo, the fans produce a maximum of 27dB of noise, measured at a distance of 30cm.
The cooling block is on top of the soc, between the two 2,750mAh batteries. These batteries can be charged simultaneously with up to 90W with the two USB-C ports. If the user charges for 17 minutes at this maximum speed, 4500mAh of capacity can be charged. Full charging takes 30 minutes. With the two fully charged batteries, the smartphone should be able to show 19 hours of videos or up to 8 hours of ‘periodic’ gameplay.
The Legion Phone Duel 2 also has two front speakers, four microphones, a fingerprint sensor, four ultrasonic shoulder buttons, Android 11, dualsim and RGB lighting. The smartphone appears in the colors black and white, measures 176×78.5×12.56mm and weighs 259 grams. Sales will start ‘in certain European markets’ in May. The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 with 12GB memory and 256GB storage costs 799 euros, a 16GB/512GB copy costs 999 euros including charging dock.
