Lenovo unveils ThinkPad X1 with foldable 13.3″ OLED screen
Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPad X1 Fold at CES 2020. This is a tablet with a bendable OLED screen with a screen diagonal of 13.3 inches. It seems that the tablet cum laptop contains an Intel Lakefield processor.
Lenovo calls the ThinkPad X1 Fold the “first folding PC.” The device can be used as a tablet, including stylus support, but can be folded in half to work with two screens. A Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard can also be placed on half of the screen in laptop mode. The keyboard is attached with magnets and charges wirelessly into the system when folded.
The X1 Fold runs Windows 10X, which is optimized for dual-screen devices. The OLED screen has a diagonal of 13.3 inches when unfolded and has a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels with a maximum brightness of 300cd/m².
The device includes an unnamed Intel processor with ‘Intel Hybrid Technology’ and support for lpddr4x at 4267MHz. It therefore seems likely that it is Intel’s Lakefield, a processor with four economical Atom Tremont cores combined with a powerful Sunny Cove core. The ThinkPad X1 Fold will launch sometime in the middle of the year for a starting price of $2,500.
