‘Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon will get a 14-inch screen in a 13-inch housing next year’
Lenovo will reportedly announce a new version of its Thinkpad X1 Carbon in early 2017 that has thin screen bezels. This enables the manufacturer to integrate a 14″ screen into a housing size traditionally used for 13.3″ laptops.
The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon from 2017 will have a 14-inch screen with full-HD resolution, but an optional resolution of 2560×1400 pixels can be chosen. A touchscreen is optional with the full-HD version. The laptop is not the first with thin bezels, such as Dell’s XPS 13 and 15 and HP’s new Specter 360. The arrival of the Thinkpad X1 Carbon in 2017 is evidenced by product slides published by Benchlife.
The laptop also has a thickness of 15.95 mm and a weight of 1.14 kilograms. The size of the laptop is even “sub 13” according to Lenovo, which means that the dimensions are probably even slightly smaller than a traditional 13.3 “laptop. The X1 Carbon 2017 gets two USB-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3. There is also an IR camera to support the biometric Hello authentication of Windows 10. The laptop gets SSD storage of up to 1TB, provided by a pci-e copy. The battery life would be 15.5 hours.
Lenovo will probably announce the X1 Carbon during CES. This electronics fair will start in Las Vegas in early January 2017.
