Lenovo stops small Windows tablets in US due to lack of interest

Lenovo will no longer sell a number of tablet models with a relatively small screen diagonal in the United States. The manufacturer blames a lack of interest in Windows tablets smaller than 10″ as the reason for the sales stop.

The sales freeze was confirmed by a Lenovo spokesperson to PC World. Tablets with a screen size smaller than 10″ are no longer sold in the United States, specifically with the Miix 2 and ThinkPad 8, both models with an 8″ screen. The remaining stock of these tablets has been shipped to other countries to be sold there. According to Lenovo, there is interest in the ThinkPad 10, a 10 “tablet.

Lenovo states that there is too little interest in the United States for small tablets with the Windows operating system. According to the spokesperson, Windows is easier to use on a tablet with a screen diagonal of 10″ or larger, and releasing smaller models “doesn’t make sense”, although Lenovo does indicate that this may not apply to every market.

Most popular, smaller tablets come with the Android operating system. The Nexus 7, among others, is popular among tablet users.
