Lenovo shows concept of laptop with folding screen

Lenovo has shown a concept of a foldable laptop. The image shows a curved screen and keyboard. When folded, it most resembles a sheet of paper that has not been folded tightly. For now, it remains a concept.

Lenovo presented the concept at a press conference and on its own Twitter account shown. The manufacturer leaves no doubt that this is only a concept that will not be released as a product for the time being. “A foldable PC? Maybe someday, but just a concept for now.”

By showing the image, Lenovo wants to show that it is working on new shapes for laptops. Because the screen continues under the place where the hinge normally is, the image shows that it cannot be folded completely in half.

It is unknown exactly how Lenovo would like to build the laptop. Manufacturers have been showing real folding screens at trade fairs for years. Ten years ago, a collaboration between Sony, LG and Philips already showed a foldable OLED screen. There are no consumer products with folding screens yet, but curved screens are now commonplace. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 smartphone is the most recent prominent example of this.
