Lenovo makes Motorola brand for more expensive smartphones
Lenovo is going to make Motorola the brand for more expensive smartphones. A top man of the Chinese manufacturer said this in an interview. It’s unknown what that means for Motorola’s popular Moto G line.
The CEO says in an interview with business newspaper The Wall Street Journal at the electronics fair CES that the upcoming smartphones from Motorola will be ‘mainly’ priced above $ 400, which, converted and including VAT, is above about 400 euros. Cheaper smartphones will carry the Lenovo brand name.
It’s unknown what that move means for the Moto E and Moto G lines of smartphones. The Moto G line has been one of the most popular cheap smartphones in the Pricewatch since its release in November 2013. The most recent smartphones from Motorola, the new Moto X and Nexus 6, are both above 400 euros.
Lenovo bought Motorola from Google last year. Under Google, the company focused on cheaper models with almost stock Android.
