Lenovo makes Legion Y gaming laptops thinner and lighter
Lenovo has announced the Legion Y530 and Y730. The mainstream laptops for gamers have a modified design compared to their predecessors, making them thinner and lighter. Lenovo is also introducing compact Legion desktop PCs.
Compared to the previous Y-game laptops, the hinge, and therefore the screen, has been moved forward. That screen has been given thinner bezels: up to 62 percent thinner on the 15.6″ Y530 and Y730 and up to 37 percent thinner on the 17.3″ version of the Y730.
The dimensions of the Y530 are 365x260x24.2mm. The resolution of the IPS panel is 1920×1080 pixels and optionally Lenovo supplies it with 144Hz refresh rate. This model gets an Intel Core i7-8750H or Core i5-8300H, and a GeForce GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti, depending on the configuration. There is white keyboard backlight.
The 15.6″ version of the Y730 is slightly more luxurious, with an RGB backlit keyboard that displays colors based on Corsair’s iCue. This model is also slightly thinner and lighter and has USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt, unlike the Y530. This model is only available with GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB gddr5, in combination with G-Sync and an Intel i7-8750H or Core i5-8300H. The 17.3″ version of the Y730 has, based on its size and weight after, pretty much the same specs.
The Y530 will be available in the US in June for a starting price of $930. The Y730 will be released in September, with the 15.6″ version costing at least $1180 and the 17.3″ variant will cost $1250. When the new Legion Y laptops will come to the Benelux and what they will cost in euros is not known.
Lenovo is also introducing the compact C530 and C730 gaming desktops. These have a transparent top, to give a view of the red lighting on the C530 and the RGB fans on the C730. Lenovo provides them with up to a Core i7-8700, a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 570 and 32GB of ram.
The Legion T530 and T730 are towers in a 28 liter housing, with the T530 again having red lighting and the T730 RGB LEDs in combination with a window on the side. In both cases, Lenovo supplies the gaming PCs with a maximum of a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 570, but with the T730 a Core i7-8700K can be chosen as the processor and there is optional overclocked Corsair Vengeance memory and water cooling from Asetek. The desktop PCs will be available in the US from August for a starting price of $ 830.
