Lenovo launches Smart Essentials line of smart home products
Lenovo is expanding its offering with Smart Essentials, a series of ‘smart’ products for smart homes. Initially, it concerns three products, which can be operated using an app.
According to Lenovo, Smart Essentials should provide an answer to the fragmented market for ‘smart devices’. The company is therefore introducing the Smart Plug, a smart socket that can be controlled remotely.
In addition, the Smart Camera will appear, a security camera for remote monitoring of images. The camera supports infrared and contains a built-in microphone and speaker. The third product in the new line is the Smart Bulb, or smart lighting whose color temperature and brightness can be adjusted.
Operation is via the Lenovo Link app and, according to the manufacturer, there is support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Lenovo’s Smart Display can also be used as a control hub. Smart Essentials will be released in the US in November and will also be coming to Europe sometime after that. The lamp and socket cost $30 in the US, the camera $100.
