Lenovo laptop specifications point to the arrival of 9000 series processors from Intel
In a specification list of an IdeaPad S530, Lenovo lists three processors in the 9000 series, which Intel has not yet announced. It concerns a Core i3, i5 and i7 in the U series for laptops, which come in the laptop as an alternative to 8000 models.
The three processors mentioned with the IdeaPad S530-13IWL are the i7-9550U, i5-9250U and i3-9130U. Twitter user momomo_us discovered the document. Lenovo lists these processors as alternatives to the Core i7-8565U, Core i5-8265U, and Core i3-8145U. The latter concern Whiskey Lake processors.
There is a chance that the 9000 series are Comet Lake U models. Rumors arose about this name last summer. It would be a new, economical, 14nm++ based chip generation for laptops, with a maximum of four cores. It was rumored that these will be released in Q2 2019 and will have Thunderbolt 3 controllers as standard, but the IdeaPad S530-13IWL document makes no mention of this interface.
Lenovo may announce the new IdeaPad during CES. The manufacturer traditionally announces many new products during this trade fair in Las Vegas at the beginning of January.
