Lenovo introduces new Legion gaming laptops with new CPUs and RTX 40 GPUs

Lenovo shows new gaming laptops during CES in Las Vegas. The company equips those notebooks with new CPUs and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 40 video cards. The laptops will be available on the market in the coming months.

Lenovo introduces, among other things a Legion 9i, the company’s new flagship gaming laptop. This is a refresh of the existing Legion 9i, which was released last year. The new version has an Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU with 24 cores, of which 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores, for a total of 32 threads. In addition, the laptop will have a maximum of an RTX 4090 GPU from Nvidia. Lenovo also equips the Legion 9i with its own LA3-P-AI chip.

The laptop has a 16″ screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, mini LED backlight and a 165Hz refresh rate. The laptop can be equipped with up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and up to 2TB of SSD storage. The Legion 9i should be released in February and has a suggested retail price from 4,299 euros.

Lenovo also comes with a Legion Pro 7i, which also has a Core i9-14900HX and up to an RTX 4090. However, this laptop can be equipped with a maximum of 32GB DDR5 memory. The IPS screen used has a higher refresh rate of 240Hz, but does not offer a mini LED backlight for higher brightness. The Pro 7i will be released in March with a starting price of 3099 euros. Lenovo also shows a less powerful Legion Pro 5i, which comes with a maximum of an RTX 4070, has a smaller battery and will be available from 1599 euros.

Furthermore, the Chinese manufacturer shows the Legion 7i and 5i without the Pro suffix. These laptops are supplied ‘at most’ with the Core i9-14900Hx and have a maximum of an RTX 4070 GPU. They also both get a maximum of 32GB of memory and 1TB of SSD storage. This Legion 7i can be supplied with a 165Hz screen with a resolution of 3200×2000 pixels or a 240Hz screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The Legion 5i is only available with the latter option.

Finally, Lenovo shows a Legio Slim 5. This laptop comes with a Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU from AMD, which has eight Zen 4 cores with a total of sixteen threads. This laptop has an RTX 4070, a maximum of 32GB memory and up to 1TB SSD storage. The Legio 7i will be released in mid-February from 1999 euros. The Legion 5i will be released later this month and will have a suggested retail price of 1399 euros. The Legion Slim 5 will follow at the end of March and will cost at least 1499 euros.
