Lenovo announces Motorola G7 series of smartphones

Lenovo has announced the Motorola G7 series of smartphones. The phones will go on sale in the Benelux in the coming weeks. Information about the phones has been leaked several times in recent months.

The Moto G7 Plus is the most expensive, presumably because of the faster processor and camera with optical image stabilization. The front camera also has a higher resolution than the regular G7. Both variants have the same screen, a 6.2″ LCD with a resolution of 2270×1080 pixels. The G7 Power has a slightly smaller screen with a much lower resolution, while the G7 Play is the smallest variant of the four.

The G7 Power has a 5000mAh battery as the main point of distinction. This should allow users to use a phone for 2.5 days, Motorola estimates. The G7 Power supports fast charging, just like the G7 and G7 Plus. With the G7 and G7 Plus, that goes up to 27W; this is not known with the G7 Power.

The three cheapest models have the Snapdragon 632 soc, which Qualcomm announced last year. That is an octacore with Kryo 250 cores and an X9 modem. The Motorola G7 Plus contains a Snapdragon 636-soc, which was already announced at the end of 2017, but has faster Kryo 260 cores and a faster X12 modem.

Three of the four G7 variants will be released this month. Only the G7 will hit stores next month. The G7 Play will cost 150 euros, the G7 Power 210 euros, the G7 250 euros and the G7 Plus will be the most expensive variant with a suggested retail price of 300 euros. The G7 series follows the G6 series, which came to the shops last summer.
