Lenovo announces IdeaPad and ThinkPad laptops with new AMD and Intel CPUs

Lenovo introduces new laptops during the MWC. The company is launching new ThinkPad models with new CPUs from Intel and AMD. The company is also introducing new IdeaPads, including a Chromebook and a Surface-like “tabtop.”

Lenovo introduces during the MWC including an IdeaPad Duet 3i. This Surface-like tabtop will have a detachable keyboard and an 11.4″ touchscreen with a resolution of 2000×1200 pixels. According to Lenovo, the screen can achieve brightnesses of up to 450cd/m² and display 100 percent of the SRGB color space. The device will also have a Alder Lake N processor from Intel; such processors only have Intel’s energy-efficient Gracemont-E cores without hyperthreading.

The Duet 3i also comes with an SSD of up to 256GB. The device has a 5-megapixel camera on the front, an 8-megapixel sensor on the back and a fingerprint scanner in the power button. The Duet 3i will be released in June with an expected suggested retail price of 449 euros.

Lenovo also introduces the IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook. This one gets a Kompanio 500 soc from MediaTek. The laptop has a 14″ touchscreen with a full HD resolution and a brightness of 300cd/m². The laptop also has a larger battery than before, with a capacity of 47Wh. Lenovo claims that it will last up to 13.5 hours. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 and will be released in May. The Slim 3 Chromebook has a recommended retail price of 349 euros.

ThinkPads with new CPUs

The ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 Gen 2 will feature AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 processors for laptops; the manufacturer does not mention any specific models. The Z13 also uses the integrated Radeon 700M GPU from the processor, while the Z16 can optionally be supplied with a Radeon 6550M video card. Both models come with up to 64GB of memory and a PCIe SSD of up to 2TB.

The ThinkPad Z laptops both come with an OLED screen, with the Z13 having a 13″ panel and the Z16 having a 16″ screen. Both laptops support Wi-Fi 6E. The laptops have a large trackpad and also have a TrackPoint. The Z13 will be delivered in July from 1649 euros. The Z16 will be available a month later from 2249 euros.

Lenovo also comes with a ThinkPad X13 and X13 Yoga. The former comes with a new CPU from Intel or AMD, while the Yoga variant only comes with an Intel processor. The fourth generation X13 series can be equipped with a 13.3″ OLED screen with ‘2.8k’ resolution and Dolby Vision support. The ‘regular’ month and costs 100 euros more.

The manufacturer is also releasing incremental upgrades for its ThinkPad T, L and E laptops, which are equipped with new processors, among other things. The ThinkPad T series has an optional 5-megapixel camera and can be supplied with an OLED screen with a resolution of 2880×1880 pixels. The company will release the T laptops in July from 1345 euros.

The cheaper L-series ThinkPads will be available with screens of 13, 14 and 15 inches. The 13″ devices will be released in April from 755 euros. The 14″ and 15″ variants will follow in May from 755 euros. The E-series will also have a 16:10 screen for the first time; previous models had a 16:10 screen. :9 display.
