Lenovo announces gaming laptops and desktop PCs with AMD Ryzen CPUs
Lenovo has announced new gaming laptops and desktop PCs. These include a new Ideapad Gaming 3, some models in the Legion series and two desktop PCs for gamers. All variants are equipped with Ryzen CPUs from AMD.
Lenovo is among other things with two new gaming laptops in the Legion series. The company is introducing a Legion 5P and a new 17.3 “variant of the Legion 5. A 15.6” variant of the latter model was previously announced. These laptops have a maximum of a Ryzen 7 4800H from AMD. This CPU has 8 cores with simultaneous multithreading and clock speeds of 2.9GHz. The processor has a tdp of 45W and can achieve turbo frequencies of 4.2GHz, AMD claims.
The Legion 5 and 5P also come with up to one RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Ti from Nvidia. The Legion 5 can be configured with a maximum of 16GB of DDR4 memory, while the maximum with the Legion 5P is 32GB. The Legion 5 comes with full HD screens with a screen diagonal of 15.6 “or 17.3” and refresh rates of up to 144Hz. Only a 15.6 “variant of the Legion 5P is available with a full HD screen and a refresh rate of 60Hz or 144Hz.

Lenovo will release 17.3 “Legion 5 in September from $ 1090. That is converted and with VAT is 1142 euros. The 15.6” version is already available. The cheapest configuration with a Ryzen 5 4600H and GTX 1650 has a suggested retail price from 899 euros. In the Pricewatch, this model is for sale to Onbekend. It is still unclear when the Legion 5P will be released and what this model will cost.
The company also comes with an IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptop. Lenovo previously announced an Intel variant, but is now showing the AMD variant. This model gets a maximum of a Ryzen 7 4800H and GTX 1650 Ti GPU. An Intel version of this laptop has been available for some time. Lenovo offers this new 15.6 “laptop with a full HD screen, which can optionally be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate. The IdeaPad Gaming 3 can also be equipped with up to 32GB of memory and a 1TB NVME SSD.
This laptop gets a suggested retail price from $ 660, which, converted and including VAT, comes to about 699 euros.
The Legion Tower 5 desktop also features an AMD CPU. This product was also previously announced, but Lenovo is now announcing the full specifications. The company will ship up to a Ryzen 9 3950X with 16 cores and 32 threads. Lenovo also supplies the PC with a GPU from AMD or Nvidia. The most expensive model contains an RTX 2070 Super GPU. The Legion Tower 5 can be supplied with up to 128GB of DDR4-3200 memory and two 1TB NVME SSDs and two 3.5 “HDDs.
The pc is standard equipped with a CPU cooler that can cool processors with a tdp of up to 150W. Users can optionally choose an aio water cooler that is suitable for CPUs up to 200W. The desktop will be available in October from $ 830, which is approximately 879 euros converted with VAT.
The IdeaCentre Gaming 5 is also a desktop PC with Ryzen CPU. Lenovo previously announced the arrival of this in April, but did not give any specifications yet. The PC is equipped with a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU and an RTX 2060 GPU in its most expensive configuration, although the system can also be configured with lower positioned Nvidia GPUs or an AMD RX 5500 4GB.
The PC can also be supplied with a maximum of 32GB of DDR4 memory and a PCI-E SSD with 1TB of storage capacity. This can be supplemented with an extra SSD or HDD. The whole thing is housed in a blue housing with a USB-C connection, two USB type-A ports and a card reader on the front panel. Lenovo is not yet announcing an exact release date for this PC. It is known that the desktop will get a starting price of 699 euros.
