Leica presents CL system camera with aps-c sensor and electronic viewfinder
Leica has presented the CL, a mirrorless system camera with a 24-megapixel sensor of the aps-c format and a built-in electronic viewfinder. The design is partly based on the classic 1970 Leica of the same name.
The Leica CL is largely similar on the inside to the Leica TL2, which the camera manufacturer announced in July. The cameras both have a 24-megapixel sensor of the aps-c format and use the same lens mount. However, the TL2 lacks a viewfinder, photos have to be taken via the screen on the back. However, an electronic viewfinder is optionally available that can be mounted on the top.
The electronic viewfinder is integrated in the new Leica CL. It concerns a copy with 2.36 million pixels. The shooting speed of the device is 10fps and it is possible to film in 4k resolution at 30fps. Operation is largely via buttons, but the LCD on the back is a touchscreen and can also be used to adjust settings.
Along with the camera, Leica presents an 18mm f/2.8 lens. According to the manufacturer, it is the smallest wide-angle for aps-c cameras. At the end of November, the Leica CL will be on the market for a suggested retail price of 2530 euros. The 18mm lens has a suggested retail price of EUR 1,210 and will be available simultaneously in a black and silver anodized version.
