Leica introduces fluorescent system camera with faster contrast autofocus
Leica comes with a successor to its system camera Leica T. The new model is called Leica TL and also has a 16-megapixel sensor in the aps-c format and a large touchscreen. The new model should focus faster, among other things.
Like the Leica T, which came on the market in 2014, the Leica TL uses contrast autofocus. However, according to the manufacturer, the speed at which focusing is improved, especially in the af-c mode, which focuses continuously. The new model also offers more storage space. There is 32GB of space for photos and videos, which was 16GB with the predecessor. An SD card can also be inserted to store more images.
You can shoot with a maximum of five images per second and the sensor has a range of 100 to 12,500 ISO. There is a movie function for recording in 1080p resolution at up to 30fps. The device is largely operated via the 3.7″ touchscreen on the back of the camera. The camera has Wi-Fi functionality and Leica comes with an app for Android and iOS that makes it possible to transfer photos to devices with those operating systems. the camera can be controlled with the app.
The Leica TL camera works in conjunction with autofocus lenses with the Leica TL mount. So far, three zoom lenses and three fixed focus lenses have been released for the system. In addition, the lenses of the Leica SL system can be used on the camera. That camera has a full-frame sensor, but the same lens mount. Leica has also released an adapter so that Leica R lenses fit on the camera, but they do not have autofocus.
Leica will release the camera immediately, in the US the camera costs $ 1695, excluding lens. A euro price is not yet known at the time of writing.
