LEGO will release Sonic the Hedgehog set in January for 70 euros
LEGO will release a Sonic the Hedgehog set on January 1, 2022. It is a design that originated through LEGO Ideas, where users can submit designs. Unlike the Mario sets from LEGO, the Sonic set has no interactive parts.
The full name of the set is Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone and LEGO gives it the number 21331. The set consists of 1125 pieces and a Sonic minifigure. The set also includes a Dr. Eggman and Eggmobile. Once assembled, the set is 17cm high and 36cm wide, including an included stand.
This is a set with Lego blocks without further interactive functions. The Mario sets that LEGO released earlier also have a figure with LCD, speaker and sensors, so that you can interact with the buildable playing field. That is not the case with the Sonic set.
The Sonic set is based on a design by Lego and Sonic fan Viv Grannell. She submitted that in early 2019 via the LEGO Ideas website. After receiving 10,000 votes, the design was assessed by LEGO in March 2020. In February this year, the proposal was made concrete and the development of a set that will actually come on the market has started. The set is for sale from January 1, 2022 for a suggested retail price of 70 euros.
