LEGO, in collaboration with Nintendo, has announced a Lego set based on Super Mario 64. The set is located in a question mark block, which players can then unfold.

According to LEGO, the block contains figures and levels of the 25-year-old Super Mario 64. The set is for sale on the LEGO site from October 1 and should cost 170 euros. According to the toy manufacturer, the set will also be for sale at other sales points from 2022.

The set consists of a large brick-built question mark block, which when unfolded shows four areas from the Nintendo 64 game, namely: Peach’ Castle, Bob-omb Battlefield, Cool Cool Mountain and Lethal Lava Land. In addition, the set includes ten minifigures, including more obscure Mario characters such as Big Bully and Mr I. These minifigures are different from the usual LEGO figures; they are much smaller, consist only of a torso with a head and have simpler facial features. For example, the Mario figure only has a mustache, and the ‘M’ on his cap is missing.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up on a Mario set. For example, last year they introduced LEGO Super Mario, where players can create levels themselves and go over them with the Mario figure. Last month, a LEGO Super Luigi version was also added. These two figures can also be used in the Super Mario 64 set, after which they play ‘unique music and sounds from the game’ according to LEGO. In addition, it is possible to find stars in the Lego areas, which trigger ‘secret reactions’ of the Lego figures.
