Billy Mitchell, a well-known arcade game player, has denied allegations that he cheated in setting Donkey Kong records. Twin Galaxies recently took all of his Donkey Kong records from him.

Mitchell says in a short video message that he can demonstrate that all past results have been achieved professionally and in full accordance with the rules. According to the gamer, an investigation is currently underway to find out what exactly happened, sometimes 35 years ago. He says he will come with witnesses and documents, although it is not yet clear when that will happen.

On Thursday, Twin Galaxies, the organization that validates world records in games, announced that Mitchell has lost all his records and that he is no longer allowed to submit new entries. The Guinness World Records agreed with this. Among other things, it has been discovered that Mitchell has cheated by playing the images from the screen in slow motion. The structure of the Donkey Kong display differs from that of the arcade cabinet. According to Twin Galaxies, it is established that the scores on Mitchell’s video were not achieved with an original Donkey Kong arcade PCB, as the rules dictate.
