Leaked repos of Team Fortress 2 show unknown maps and level 4 sentry’s
A large number of repositories of the multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 have appeared online. Due to that leak at Valve, 61GB of raw data about the game is currently circulating among players and modders. That data contains information about maps, player models and concept art.
It is not known where the data comes from, but youtuber Richer Overtime say that the full repos of the game have been leaked and that several players now have them. A leaker named Leakerwanderer claims to have owned the data dump since 2016, writes the anonymous person on Discord. On the Team Fortress 2 subreddit the most important finds from the repos are collected together.
The data dump includes maps that have never been seen before, such as a concept for Dustbowl 2, a successor to one of the game’s most popular maps. There is also a female character in the character models that was not previously known and a level 4 sentry, one of the fiercest enemies in the game. It’s not clear what stage of development those models and parts of the game were in or if they were ever intended to come out, but the models all seem to be relatively advanced.
Data researchers and content creators are still searching for new information from the data dump. Developer Valve has not yet commented on the leak. In the past, there have been major data breaches at Valve where such game material was found.
