Leaked renders of the Huawei P20 devices show that the smartphones, just like the iPhone X and the Essential Phone, will have a notch at the top of the screen where there is room for the camera. The display continues next to the notch.

The leaked renders are said to be intended for the press and will only be distributed around the time Huawei will unveil the phones, at its own event on March 27. Huawei does have a presentation at the currently ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but does not present its new top phones there. The pictures show that these are two different devices. One with a fingerprint reader on the front and one that doesn’t, deploying the extra space for a longer screen. Both devices have the notch. According to GSMArena we see the P20 on the left and the P20 Plus on the right. A P20 Lite could also be coming.

Huawei announced on Saturday through a teaser that in any case betrays that the new devices will fall into the P20 line. It is possible to speculate about the meaning of the three round photos that are part of the text ‘see mooore with ai’. Many think that these are phones with three cameras. That would also be in line with a leak from December. The device with three cameras has 40 megapixels according to the fine print in that leak and 5x ‘hybrid zooming’. By using a sensor with many megapixels, Huawei could apply digital zoom by cropping the sensor.
