Leaked renders Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra show notch in screen

Alleged renders of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra show that the tablet has a notch in the screen for the front camera. The renders have been leaked by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, who often come out with such images.

If the renders are indeed real, then this is probably the first Android tablet that has such a setup for the front camera. However, Samsung would not quite have a first in this area: in 2019 Huawei unveiled its MatePad Pro, with a punch-hole camera. Incidentally, 91Mobiles was one of the first to come out with renders of that Huawei tablet at the time, and 91Mobiles is also involved in the publication of the renders with this Samsung tablet.

91Mobiles and OnLeaks also report that Samsung plans to release three tablets this year: the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and the S8 Ultra. The renders are of the Ultra and that should be the most high-end model.

The presence of a notch should ensure that the screen has more space on the front for the rest. That is also the case with this tablet; the edges around are clearly thinner than with its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S7+. The OLED display would have a diagonal of 14.6″, and that of the other two models would be 11″ and 12.4″.

Furthermore, the Ultra would have two cameras on the back and a magnetic strip for the S-pen. There are a total of four speakers on the top and bottom of the tablet, and USB connectivity is via a Type-C port. The dimensions are according to 91Mobiles 325.8×207.9×5.4mm.

OnLeaks also recently leaked renders of the ‘regular’ Tab S8 via Zouton. However, there was talk of a release date in ‘the early months of 2022’.

Furthermore, another leak earlier this year revealed that the Tab S8 Ultra would have a 120Hz display, a 12,000mAh battery, a charging capacity of 45W, 8GB or 12GB of ram and up to 512GB of storage. It was further stated that prices converted to 600 euros for the cheapest tablet, 918 euros for the middle and 1082 euros for the Ultra variant.
