Leaked document names Guardians of the Galaxy as Telltales Marvel game
A leaked document reports that Telltale Games is working on a game from the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie. The document lists a number of projects affected by the strike of video game actors who are members of the US trade union SAG-Aftra.
Telltale announced in April 2015 that it plans to release a Marvel game in 2017, but did not disclose any details about the characters. The SAG-Aftra has now published a list of projects that union members are still allowed to work on. The list was noticed by the Comicbookmovie site, among others. “Guardians Of The Galaxy- The Video Game a/k/a Blue Harvest” is featured, with “Blue Harvest” possibly being a working title for the project, the site writes. The movie of the same name came out in 2014 and revolves around the character Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, and his companions, including a raccoon named Rocket and a species of tree named Groot.
The list also states that Telltale is working on a new game in the The Walking Dead series. This has been known for some time, which makes the leaked document more credible. When it was announced in April, Telltale talked about a series, which may indicate that it plans to release the Guardians of the Galaxy game in episodes. The studio has done this before with other titles, including Game of Thrones and The Wolf Among US.
The union’s strike is related to disputes over compensation for video game actors, the organization said in October. For example, the actors currently do not receive additional payments that depend on the popularity of a game. The union has therefore ceased work for several major publishers. Negotiations have been ongoing since February 2015.
