League of Legends animated series Arcane coming to Netflix this fall
Arcane, the first animated series based on the League of Legends game from Riot Games, will be available on Netflix this fall. The streaming service published a teaser of the series on Monday.
Netflix announces the arrival of the Arcane animated series on Twitter. The company writes that “the world of League of Legends” is coming to the streaming service and publishes a short teaser. This trailer shows several champions from the game. Netflix writes on YouTube that Arcane is set in the “utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed, underground Zaun.” The series is said to follow the origins of two League of Legends champions, and “the power that will tear them apart.” The teaser features Jinx and Vi, among others, in addition to characters such as Darius.
Riot Games already announced the arrival of League of Legends Arcane in 2019. The developer then reported that the series would appear in 2020, but the release was later delayed until this year. The studio did this because of the outbreak of the new corona virus. The French Fortiche Productions animates the series. That company previously made short League of Legends animations for Riot Games.
Several game-based series will appear on Netflix in the near future. In March, for example, Valve already released a Dota animated series on Netflix. SEGA is working with the streaming service on a Sonic the Hedgehog series. Tomb Raider and Resident Evil animated series should also be released on Netflix this year. The streaming service is also rumored to be working on a Splinter Cell anime in collaboration with Ubisoft. The two companies are also working on a live-action series based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It is not yet clear when those series will appear.
