Anthem’s lead producer Ben Irving is leaving Bioware. He spent eight years with the Austin division of the Canadian game company and for a time was also the lead producer of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Irving makes his departure known via Twitter. He reports to be working at an undisclosed, other game company. Also, Irving states that he believes Anthem has a bright future ahead of it with a good team working on the game. He also states that he has had a pleasant contact with the Anthem community ‘during good and bad times’.

The lead producer leaves Bioware during a period of continued criticism of Anthem. Post-release players complained about crashes, bugs, long loading screens and playability, although many reviewers also felt the game had potential. The game maker has been able to fix some of the problems with updates.

Ben Irving spent eight years at Bioware Austin. Before working on Anthem, he was the lead producer of the mmo Star Wars: The Old Republic. He received some criticism for his work before that. Some players held him responsible for the deterioration of that game in their eyes. Anthem’s other lead producer, Mike Gamble, will remain with Bioware as far as is known.
