LastPass: Use Password Manager is now free on mobile
The company behind LastPass announced Tuesday that the password manager can now be used for free on any device, including mobile devices. However, if you want to work on multiple types of devices, you have to shell out for that.
LastPass reports that the password manager is now free on the type of device a person uses for the first time. This includes mobile devices that run on iOS, Android or Windows Phone, for example. Previously, this had to be paid for. On the other hand, someone who wants to use LastPass on multiple types of devices must now purchase a premium account. It costs twelve dollars a year.
LastPass writes in a blog post that multi-device synchronization can be tried for two weeks. During that time, someone can link an unlimited number of devices to the password manager. After that, payment must be made. For all current LastPass users who are already paying for the service, nothing will change despite the changes. They will continue to use the old subscriptions for the time being.
LastPass is a password manager that makes it easy to login to various websites. The program is available on mobile devices and as a plug-in for the more well-known web browsers on Windows, Linux and OS X. LastPass can also be used to generate hard-to-guess passwords.
LastPass suffered a hack almost two months ago. Malicious persons then stole personal data from the company’s servers. This did not involve password archives, but did include e-mail addresses and password reminders. LastPass regretted the incident.
