LastPass announces that the password manager is now free to use on various types of devices. Previously, the free version only allowed limited synchronization and synchronization between mobile devices and desktops was not possible.

For example, if users had set up the service on their Android smartphone, they could only sync on other Android devices. To use the service on various types of devices, a paid LastPass account had to be closed for an amount of $12 per year.

From now on, users of the free version can also synchronize the password manager on different devices. This removes one of the biggest limitations of the free version. Users who are already using LastPass Free can immediately sync for free on other devices by downloading the app or browser plug-in and logging into their account.

The paid version continues to offer a number of other benefits, including 1GB of storage for encrypted files, no ads, the ability to store passwords for software programs, and additional two-step authentication with YubiKey, for example. LastPass says it is working on new features for the paid version, but has not announced what exactly is coming.
