The Flemish Larian announces Divinity: Fallen Heroes. It is not about the sequel to Divinity: Original Sin 2, but about a spin-off that takes place in the same universe. In the turn-based game, players send squads on missions, similar to Xcom.

According to a description on the Fallen Heroes website, the game is packed with RPG elements and will have over sixty missions. The choices players make in it affect the story. However, compared to the Divinity: Original Sin games, the game is less about story. Fallen Heroes does not have an open world; players always choose a team of characters and send them on a mission.

Confrontations are fought turn-based and the game uses the same mechanics as Divinity: Original Sin 2, with the difference that each team always has a turn instead of the turn alternates per individual. Firearms also come into play. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, which was able to try an early version, it plays like an Xcom-like game.

Fallen Heroes is a single player game, but there will also be a co-op feature. Larian Studios has outsourced the development of the game to the Danish studio Logic Artists. The game is slated to release on “various platforms” later this year. Which and exactly when is not yet known.
