‘Largest manufacturers delivered 30 percent fewer motherboards in 2022’
The four largest motherboard manufacturers delivered about 13 million fewer motherboards last year than in 2021, DigiTimes writes based on sources. ASRock saw the number of motherboards delivered drop the most, Gigabyte the least.
ASUS remains the market leader, although this company delivered 25 percent fewer motherboards compared to 2021. Last year, ASUS shipped 13.6 million motherboards. The difference between ASUS and Gigabyte has narrowed as a result, from about 7 million motherboards to 4 million. The numbers are from Tom’s Hardwareon based on a DigiTimes article.
ASRock saw the largest drop in motherboard shipments, dropping 55 percent to 2.7 million. The decline was also significant at MSI, with 42 percent. DigiTimes reports that deliveries fell over the entire year, so no month stood out. The decline was partly due to less demand for hardware as employees returned to the office, as demand from crypto miners fell and because of the worsening economic conditions. The deteriorated PC market was already reflected in the GPU figures; last year, the number of GPUs delivered would have shrunk by 42 percent.
