Large number of Google Pixel 2 users report broken camera
The Google Pixel 2 seems to have a problem with the camera software. Users report that they can no longer use the camera application, including after installing the Android 10 update. However, it is still unclear whether it is due to the software update.
The reports appeared on Google’s support forums for Pixel smartphones and Reddit, among others, Android Police discovered. Although it concerns a large number of individual reports, it is not entirely clear what the exact scope of the problems is. According to users, not only the built-in camera application no longer works, but also other applications that use the photo mode, such as Whatsapp, can no longer take photos or videos.
In some cases, it seems that the problems arose after installing the software update released last year that brings Android version 10 to the Pixel 2. After that, the camera no longer appears to function. When opening the camera application, the screen remains black and no photo can be taken, nor video can be recorded.
However, the software update is not the cause of the problem in all cases, and Android 10 has been available for the Pixel 2 for months now, so the relationship between the software update and the camera problems is not established. Google has not yet responded to the issues. However, the internet giant has offered to repair or exchange the device with some users.
