The data center will be located on the Trekkersveld business park in Zeewolde, a municipality in Flevoland. The municipality says that the data center will be built on a new piece of land next to the existing one. The new site will cover 356 hectares.

Details about the data center are not yet known. Omroep Flevoland writes that the center will have five server halls, in addition to office space. Construction should take between five and seven years.

According to the broadcaster, 500 people could work in the data center in the future. According to the municipality, the company that is having the center built would ‘take into account that another part will be added’.

The municipality has agreed with the company ‘to use sustainable energy as much as possible’. Part of the residual heat from the center is used to heat Zeewolde and surrounding cities such as Harderwijk, Lelystad and Almere.

The municipality and the company have to buy out four farms in the area. They are talking about that. Construction on the center should start in the middle of next year.
