Laptops with AMD Ryzen 5000 processors appear online

Several laptops with AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs have surfaced, including specifications. These laptop processors are expected to be introduced at CES in January. AMD CEO Lisa Su will hold a keynote there on January 12.

The laptops were noticed by Twitter users momomo_us and VideoCardz, among others. For example, some Ryzen 5000H chips appeared for the first time. CPUs in that series have a higher tdp than the U variants and this generation all seem to have Zen 3 cores, writes VideoCardz. Zen 3 architecture is also used in AMD’s Ryzen 5000 desktop processors.

For example, four Ryzen 5000H CPUs have now appeared at various retailers. These include, for example, a Ryzen 9 5900HX and a Ryzen 9 5900HS with eight cores and simultaneous multithreading , where the former variant has higher clock speeds and a 45W tdp and the HS model presumably has a lower tdp of 35W. A Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 5 5600H have also surfaced. The former again has eight cores with smt, while the 5600H has six cores and twelve threads.

The U variants have now also surfaced at various retailers. These chips with lower tdp would be divided into two different series; Cezanne gets Zen 3 cores and Lucienne uses Zen 2 architecture from current Ryzen laptop chips. However, all Ryzen 5000U CPUs do receive support for SMT. This is not the case with the current Ryzen 4000U chips. Clock speeds are not listed for every 5000U variant, but for the variants that are mentioned, the speeds correspond to previous rumors .

A retailer also mentions tdps for some Ryzen 5000U chips. For example, the Ryzen 7 5800U and Ryzen 5 5600U have a tdp of 25W, while the Ryzen 5 5500U based on Zen 2 has a tdp of 15W according to the webshop. By the way, this is probably a configurable tdp , which runs from a minimum of 10W to a maximum of 25W. This is also the case with the current Ryzen 4000U chips, VideoCardz also reports. The standard tdp would again be 15W for all U variants.

It is also striking that, according to the listings, laptops with Ryzen 5000 CPU can be equipped with highly positioned RTX video cards from Nvidia. For example, the ASUS Zephyrus Duo 15 SE laptop would come with a GeForce RTX 3080 with 16GB memory. Another retailer also showed a successor to the current Zephyrus G14, which would be fitted with an RTX 3060 Max-Q and Ryzen 9 5900HS.

Originally, laptops with Ryzen mobile CPU only came with an RTX 2060 video card or lower. It is not clear why this was the case.
