Laptops with AMD Radeon RDNA 2 GPUs coming in six months
AMD will make laptop video cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture and laptops equipped with it will be released in the first half of 2021. AMD also says that more Radeon RX 6000 cards will be released in the same period.
The specifications of the upcoming RDNA 2 GPUs for laptops have not yet been announced. AMD briefly mentioned the arrival of the GPUs in its CES presentation. The architecture forms the basis of the video cards in the Radeon RX 6000 series and the Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 also have an RDNA 2 GPU. According to AMD, there will in any case be an RDNA 2 laptop video card that can run DiRT 5 in 1440p resolution at 60fps. The manufacturer demonstrated this during its presentation.
AMD CEO Lisa Su also reports that new video cards in the Radeon RX 6000 series will appear in the first half of this year. No further details have been released about this either. Presumably these are variants that are positioned under the current cards. AMD has only released relatively expensive RX 6000 cards so far.
In its CES presentation, AMD also announced the Ryzen 5000U and HX laptop processors.
